Duncan said, don’t write about the boiler bursting. No, no! what about the day you lock your onlyset of car keys in the boot of the car. Yes I know, normal people would have a spare set, but yours truly sort of coasts along forgetting the practicalities of life. so there I was, car locked, parked outside shops in Currie, but luckily I remembered seeing a relevant garage way across town near Holyrood. In Edinburgh if you want criss-cross routes you need a car - or bike, but lengthwise things are fine, so I was able to travel by bus, with a travel book to read about crossing Kirghizia and Turkmenestan in 1932, just doesn’t compare with jolting along George Street, does it? I managed to get a key and travelled back another 40 minutes to open the boot. I even met a friend from St James’ on the way. So, a complete waste of time and money: yes, but perhaps considering the lilies of the field (not that I spotted any en route) has something to do with not getting frstrated over time-wasting trivia, but trying to find a grain of gold within the dust. Don’t know!

I don’t know about you, but so often life seems to fly by at such a pace that there seems to be very little time to stop and reflect on what has gone on - and to notice the richness of it all.

Certainly for me the past 12 weeks have taken me on an incredible journey: from the austere reminder of mortality on Ash Wednesday to the exuberant celebration of resurrection hope on Easter Day, this has been a journey rich in ways I can’t describe. Perhaps I’ll try to say more later.

I’m hoping that this forum will be a place for all of us to have our say, whether its putting up a post like this one, or commenting on something someone else has written. Perhaps this is a place where we can strike up a conversation, or share one with others. We could think of it as a kind of online church magazine, though without deadlines, and with an unlimited ‘letters’ page.

Please read the ‘About’ page as it has some guidelines for contributing. But most of all, please take a risk - have fun, be frivolous, be serious - and join in. I look forward to hearing from you!
