I've been reflecting on the fact that we literally receive the Mark of Death.

Christ calls us to die to self, so it's not just a reminder of one-day-in-the-future, but a challenge for today.
As St Paul says, "I no longer live but Christ lives in me". So, while the secular world sees death as failure, the Christian sees it as nothing less than the Way to New Life.

This dying to self is extended in the 40 days of Lent into a stripping away of all the ego-stuff of "I WANT/I FEEL/I NEED", back to the underlying "I". We sit stripped naked in the wasteland of the spirit and gaze, in a place beyond words, on the desolation. Here we encounter ouselves at a deeper level and come to know that even if we find our spiritual life is dry and empty God IS the desert in which we find ourselves.

Lent is not for the faint hearted.
Who says Christianity is a crutch?!

Ps 147:13-21
Ephesian 1.3-14 (great stuff!)

Do you have any idea how long it took to paint those "table cloths"?! Hahaha
Life is transitory, and that's part of the joy of creativity - seeing the NEW thing being done.

Thanks to Margaret for these pics. They proved quite tricky to tidy up. Note to others planning to post pictures: 1. crop your pictures so they are already square before you begin, so the automatic cropper doesn't mangle them. 2. use the 'add media' button. Upload your pictures one by one, and notice the number next to the word 'gallery' indicating how many you have uploaded. (These are just uploaded to the server - but have not yet been added to the post itself.) 3. Click on 'gallery' to see a list of your uploaded pictures. 4. For each picture you can expand its fields and add a caption. 5. Then, when your have done this, simply insert the gallery whole into your post. It's easier than fiddling around with the HTML trying to get your pictures where you want them. 6. Remember to click publish to make your post live. Whew! Too clever by half... (It, not me!)

Perhaps we could nail the pews to the ceiling, and fill them with tailor's dummies?

And then find a theological justification for it!

Advent? No...
Easter? No...
...tricky one.

Just wanted to share Maragaret's sentiments, we certainly do wish God's rich blessing on Laura's new life in London.
